My
thesis is going to be about the connections and attachments human beings form
with certain spaces and forms of buildings through our psychological,
philosophical and cultural ties. The reactions and the emotions we have for
certain spaces and certain forms of buildings, and the way our built
environment affects us in our daily lifestyles.
Description of how my thesis topic may incorporate with an architectural typology (building type):
After researching the psychological
and emotional behaviors the users get for certain spaces, I want to focus on
one specific feeling and possibly design a building that provokes the feeling
of peace or delightfulness. The type of building can possibly be a healing
space that can help to heal people’s psychological pains, or an urban monastery
that can be an escape place for people to come relieve their stress after a
busy day at work.
In a very general sense, what are some of the problems with the way spaces adversely affect emotions? Is is the physical space, or the daily grind of work that causes stress?
ReplyDeleteThese connections are truly defined by the path that connects them: the journey if you will. That connection (the node) will be the reward. Before you get to the physical spaces, what are some quality psychological traits that you believe will better our lives?
